About us:

David Harbottle:

I've been mountaineering, walking, trekking and cycling for over 30 years.

In 1990 I moved (with my family) to northwest England to be nearer to the mountains I love.

I'm a qualified Mountain Leader, an NNAS award trainer and a qualified Outdoors First Aider. I also hold BCU level 2 star award and SPA (training). CPD info.

I've worked freelance as an Overseas Expedition Leader for World Challenge; as a UK mountain leader for HF Holidays; and I'm a volunteer leader (network assessor trained) for my local Duke of Edinburgh's Award Centre.

Completing all the Scottish Munros left me with a deep respect and affection for the Highlands. I like to return as often as I can, particularly winter/early spring.

Riding bikes (MTB and road) over the past 15 years has been a fantastic way to keep me fit. I've led cycling groups of all abilities for much of this time and I've very much enjoyed introducing cyclists to the more challenging MTB terrain around the UK. Cycling is a great way to explore the countryside, regardless of ability. I've competed in a number of Polaris Challenge events over the years.

It surprises me, after all this time, just how much more there is still to see in the UK; for example: I've seen a great deal of Snowdonia over the years, and become very familiar with the trade routes; however with a little imagination I can still find a Wales where the excitement of exploration still inspires me.

Sue's been my long suffering partner for many years. I'd better let her introduce herself:
